I had exactly the same issue on my lenovo, I installed the
experimental kernel packages (linux-image-3.6-trunk-amd64 /
3.6.8-1~experimental.1), since then I've never had any more freezes.

There is no need to build your own kernel.

apt-get update
apt-get install linux-image-3.6-trunk-amd64
linux-headers-3.6-trunk-all-amd64

I think meanwhile the kernel is 3.7...
