..(c)debootstrap* allows installing Debian from and onto
a running Linux system, by putting it on its disk and then
chrooting into it, some people likes to do it that way.
..based on my own Red Hat experience (RH-5.2 thru 9.0), I
could be moved both ways, either the debootstrap dance, or
play with the various Debian etc LiveCD|USB|DVD rescue tools,
it really depends on how RH-5.0EE developed since RH-9.0 and
how OP works admin'ing he's boxes.
