Those settings are still in the same place. You're probably just used to
Konqueror opening in File Management profile by default.

Toolbar => Settings => Load View Profile... => File Management.

The default menu placement for Konqueror is under Internet (in KDE4) -
hence it starting with the Web Browsing profile.

You can use Menu Editor to change the launch parameters from:-
kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing
to:-
kfmclient openProfile filemanagement

You can tweak the File Management profile to your liking (I prefer no
hidden files, details view).

To make Konqueror the default File Management tool (instead of Dolphin)
- use System Settings => Default Applications => File Manager

Toolbar => View => Show hidden files.

Konqueror still does everything it did in Lenny. I have several clients
with an aversion to change - tried Trinity at first, then I learnt to
configure KDE4. Unfortunately there's a lot more (ultra conservative)
"information" available about the "failings" of KDE4 than information
about how to configure it.
If I knew a single, complete, reference on configuring KDE4 I'd post it.

Cheers
