I alredy mentioned that openSUSE does it in that way. Dunno how but there
is a copy of the original MBR after the installation which I find it to
be a very good approach.
Letting users to be in charge of making a copy of the MBR can be a bit
overwhelming, given that most of them do not even know what a MBR or a
bootloader is... so if the installer does it automatically and something
wrong happens, the user can restore the original MBR without a glitch.
Post-recovery options and/or dropping bootloader into a partition only
makes sense for someone in the know, but I imagine a Joe user here, with
a new notebook on his hands and windows on it, wanting to test Debian (or
another distribution) with no previos knowledge of linux and not advanced
skills. If nobody warns him about making a copy of the MBR and the
installer neither does, the trouble is served and ready to hit him :-)
