disable fbcon in Debian Wheezy (Live)?
How do I disable fbcon in Debian Wheezy? I'm using a custom
Debian Live image, and it switches to fbcon as soon as it can
get to the modules!
I've Google'd a bit, but the virtually the only recommendation
I've found is to add fbcon=map:9 to the kernel command line.
Unfortunately, instead of leaving the VGA console alone, it
apparently completely deactivates it (the display enters a power
saving mode.)
As a work-around, I can boot with "emergency", and remove
/lib/modules/2.6.39-2-amd64/kernel/drivers/{gpu,video}/. Yet,
I'd prefer for a less radical solution.
(And I wonder, what process launches modprobe(8) on these
modules, and is there a way to disable it?)
TIA.
