Hi, thanks everyone for the replies.

No, this is not a NFS share but a local dev mount, so stopping nfs or 
using force (in case of an unreachable NFS system) won't help.

% umount -f /mnt/mpoint
umount2: Device or resource busy
umount: /mnt/mpoint: device is busy.
        (In some cases useful info about processes that use
         the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
umount2: Device or resource busy
