Are you still getting the error or it was just a bad mirror?

If the error persists, as you only have one "deb-src" line pointing to 
"ftp.us.debian.org" in your "/etc/apt/sources.list" I would try by 
commenting (#) that line and re-check:

#deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free
