Anything is possible at this point.  In accordance with advice received
from earlier posters to this thread, I decided to use SDHC cards rather
than the more advanced and expensive SDXC cards.

I am now in Bangkok with the laptop, and the desktop is in Toronto.
When I am back in Toronto in April I expect to upgrade the desktop to
Squeeze (and ultimately the laptop) and see what happens.
