I use a Hauppauge PVR-150 on my Lenny machine, and it's recognized and
configured automatically.  I have main, contrib, and non-free sections
enabled, as well as debian-multimedia.org.  I use this card with MythTV,
however I think you can record from it by simply running:

cat /dev/videoX > myfile.mpeg  (where X is some number -- you'll
probably have to test a few, becaue that card has multiple inputs).

This is not a high definition capture card, so it might not be what
you're looking for.  On the other hand, they can probably be had for
cheap on ebay or craigslist.
