I must differ.NVIDIA don't do open source because they believe they must keep closed to compete with AMD/ATI. Whether that's true or not is a matter of another discussion. Their closed binaries are usually pretty good. Sometimes they release a bad bug, but they are quick to fix it, and quickly release a patched version. At any rate, one's best best is probably Intel. The more recent GPUs from Intel are well supported in Linux. Heavy 3D support simply requires the NVIDIA blob. No choice. Soon the Nouveau driver will change that, but for now...
