Install os-prober and re-run update-grub.


Thanks, the following is the steps taken (which is successful, of course)
  1. mount /dev/sda3 (the ext4 os partition) "tune2fs -E test_fs /dev/sda3; mount -t ext4dev /dev/sda3 /mnt/"
  2. copy its menu entry entry in /mnt/boot/grub/grub.cfg to /etc/grub.d/40_custom
  3. run update-grub (it should say that it detects the other os's kernel)
  4. new entries for that os will be appended in /boot/grub/grub.cfg
