I owe you an apology.  I had misread my own aptitude result.  As Stephen 
pointed out, since I have certainly not knowingly or deliberately installed 
gawk, it must have got brought in as a dependancy of another package that I 
_did_ install.

So - I apologise for the mail I have jus fired off to you. :-(
