Unable to make DNS queries

I just installed a new instance of Debian 5.0 (Lenny). I am unable to
download files from any websites. When I try wget
http://www.google.com/ I see this output in tshark.

debian:~# tshark -f "udp port 53"
Running as user "root" and group "root". This could be dangerous.

How should I troubleshoot this?
