There was a time when I played with something similar, I used tcpdump
(even on bridged interfaces) to see where the packets disappear.

As I remember I needed

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

on [SystemA]. I also used packet filtering, so I needed the rule:

$IPTABLES -A FORWARD -i br0 -o br0 -j ACCEPT
