Hallo,

I have a VMWare ESXi-Server with 3xLenny, 1xEtch, 1xWinXP.
Befor i upgrade Etch to Lenny, the filecopy-speed on the harddisk are fast.
After the upgrade i can count the bytes...

"hdparm -tT /dev/sda" on Lenny display:
-------------------------
kronos:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 3176 MB in 1.99 seconds = 1592.54 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 28 MB in 3.43 seconds = 8.17 MB/sec
kronos:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda

[snip]

same ESXi-Server, but with Debian Etch:
-------------------------
hermes:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 12116 MB in 1.99 seconds = 6077.73 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 148 MB in 3.30 seconds = 44.80 MB/sec
hermes:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda

[snip]

DMA is ON. VMWare-Tools are installed.
What can i do to raise the speed on lenny?

Maybe the correct chipset driver is not being loaded?
