ASUS is not a "no-name" board. Dell, HP, and others use ASUS OEM bords in their computers.

That doesn't mean that they are still good like they used to be. I've
seen 10--15 out of 25 Asus boards, all the same model, giving Windoze
XP trouble to access the disk. It could take 15 minutes and several
tries when users turned on their computers in the morning before they
could use them. --- I've had an Asus board myself and the fan on it
started rattling after a short time. Otherwise, it wasn't too bad,
except that there was no way to update the BIOS.

Not being able to update the BIOS is not an ASUS problem. Actually, ASUS is very good about updating their BIOSes. I never heard of a board you couldn't update. What model was it?

There was a problem with Antec power supplies and AMD-based boards. Maybe that was the problem with the hard disks. (Fixed now; it was an Antec problem.)

I still recommend the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, at least, I have had good results with it.

If you don't like ASUS, go with MSI.
