The 3D option was removed because of this bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495234 That bug was fixed by newer versions of PyOpenGL, so I'd expect the 3D option to reappear in future versions of Debian's glChess. - Chris Burkhardt
