A bug. It is unreasonable to expect a user to know to do 'info coreutils'
to learn about hostid, head, or any of the many other utilities that are
fully documented only in the coreutils info files, especially when the man
page says (incorrectly) that 'info hostid' will get you full documentation.
At the very least the man pages should suggest 'info coreutils'.

Even "info coreutils" doesn't give you much info about hostid.

Anyway, what is the *point* of hostid on a machine with a F/LOSS operating system? There's no vendor-supplied "key" as there is with closed-source OSs.
