A pop3 server is a different thing from MTA. While we have one specific
package that does both (xmail), there are a number of MTAs and a number
of pop3 server.

Exim is the default on Debian. It is well supported and should be
trivial to set up for such a basic setup.

dovecot is a relatively straight-forward server for pop3 and imap. There
are a number of pop3-only servers (e.g. qpopper).
