I don't think it's relevant: floppies have always been broken in
my experience (don't know about the 8" kind, but all the 5¼" and the
3½" I've ever used tended to fail on a regular basis, no matter if
I bought the cheapest ones or the expensive ones).

Only old geezers know about floppies nowadays, so not only old geezer
but a lucky one at that.
