Don't know if this will help - but mine is an Epson Stylus C43UX and it works 
a treat

$ dpkg -S /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb
dpkg: /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb not found.

$ apt-file search /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb
bash: apt-file: command not found

$ dir /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb
/usr/lib/cups/backend/usb
