Hi, on my Lenny desktop box I have a problem installing banshee since Apr 16th. Here is the saga: I used to install all my stuff with apt-get, I rarely use aptitude and I am not used to it. I almost never used Synaptic just because I did not see any sense. Well I should have heard to my inner voice on that. That day the notify-update-thingy could not resolve all dependencies. In these cases I started apt-get and everything would be fine - but that day I started up Synaptic to see what it would do. It told me that banshee must be uninstalled to resolve all dependencies. That would have been the time for me to quit but I didn't - I was curious - and anyway who needs banshee :-P ? So I did it. Since then env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 apt-get install banshee gives me this: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: gedit-common libbrlapi0.5 python-pyatspi gnome-mag gedit libcolorblind0 dasher gnome-accessibility-themes libgnome-mag2 libgail-gnome-module gnome-orca python-brlapi gnome-system-tools eog dasher-data gok libgnomevfs2-bin libgnome-speech7 Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. First I supposed this is a transition problem with banshee and stayed calm but now I am not so sure anymore. And if it's not I'm not sure where the error may be found. Since this is lasting for a week now I just thought I might ask the public. I'm sorry if this is noise ;-) -- some additional information: env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 apt-cache policy banshee banshee: Installed: (none) Candidate: 0.13.2+dfsg-2 Version table: 0.13.2+dfsg-10 0 -10 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages 0.13.2+dfsg-2 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org lenny/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.11.2+dfsg-1 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org etch/main Packages sources.list deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian etch main contrib non-free deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org lenny main deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian etch main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb file:/var/cache/apt-build/repository apt-build main preferences Package: * Pin: release a=lenny Pin-Priority: 900 Package: * Pin: release a=etch Pin-Priority: 500 Package: * Pin: release a=unstable Pin-Priority: -10
