These are various metapackages that track the lastest version.
linux-images-686 will install the latest i686 kernel
linux-image-2.6-686 will install the latest 2.6-based i686 kernel
This is a regular package:
linux-image-2.6.18-6-686 will install kernel 2.6.18 (the 6th debian
revision).
These are for Etch, the current version of Debian.
Lenny hopefully will be ready for release in Sept or so.
