Is iceweasel v2.0.0.12 from the debian etch repository the same version
as firefox? I assume so but I just want to make sure.

I'm having some minor issues browsing and I can't figure out what the
problem is. The symptom is that iceweasel freezes up completely for 10
to 15 seconds on various websites, e.g.:

http://www.independent.co.uk/
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=48
http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=8874

I can handle websites when they're slow, but the problem is that
iceweasel freezes completely, so I can't change tabs to carry on
browsing somewhere else. I have to sit and wait.

Anyone else experiencing this?
I just tried all three of those sites. Independent took a while to
*completely* load, but that's just because it's complicated. The
Oracle and Sourceforge pages popped up instantly.

Found no mention of it on the mozillazine.org forum.

To all,

Even if using iceweasel v2.0.0.11 with my [Linux version 2.6.22jlcv010
(2.6.22-6.lenny1) (root@GX200) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Debian 4.2.3-1)) #1
Thu Feb 14 10:22:42 CET 2008] I feel the same pain with mainly site with
music and/or flash. It looks like all those are known issues which shall
be fixed one day. The question is when that one day will be ?

One IMPORTANT item to note: I have installed the /Adblock Plus/ and
/Flashblock/ addons. On the Independent home page, this means that
7 (yes, I said SEVEN) Flash movies just have a placeholder box.

Install those two addons and I'm very confident that your freezing
problem will disappear.

Hello Ron,

thanks for the advise, I'm now trying just Adblock Plus and I'm writing this memo while my IceWeasel just lock-up...
I'm going to try /Flashblock/ addons and see what will happen...

Regards,
JL
