Ok, so it's a phone we are trying to connect to.  That kinda changes
things.  Phones can be strange beasts to deal with.  You might want to

Thanks for the heads up.
Do you have any other words of wisdom regarding connecting a cellphonee?   I can not make heads or tales of this tty mess.   I wish to connect my cellphone so i can use it with Kannel (to send out sms text messeges)..it has been driving me nuts....do you know a better way to do this with debian ???
