I've also had good luck with k9copy for keeping a disk intact (menus etc) but making it smaller for using with single layer dvd's. dvdrip uses libdecss (or whatever the current one is) to remove the css crap, not sure about k9copy. Note that neither one is very "fast" (dvdrip can take hours on my .5 gig athlon xp mumblemumble). both are available from debian-multimedia. A
