Reality does not back you up on this during daylight hours. What you say
might be true at night when there's hardly any public transit service, but
during the day, it's a great time saver. It takes me 35 minutes,
gauranteed, if I take the train. If I try driving to work, it takes over
an hour. Unless you have to go someplace more than a mile or two off the
MAX line or at three in the morning, your odds of getting there faster in a
car than by TriMet are nearly nil.

I don't have to take public transit, but why should I burn $8 worth of gas
and spend $10 to park and take twice as long to get there when employers
pick up transit fare for full time employees anyway? While I have above
average income these days, it doesn't mean that I can just waste my money
on the least efficient method.
