If you buy a computer and you have any doubt at all in your mind as to the legality of the copy of windows that is already on the machine's hard drive, erase entire hard drive and install Debian on machine. Had

IANAL

I dunno about the law in Russia, but in Texas what is illegal is
*knowingly* receiving stolen goods. If the seller represents the
copy as legal, then unless there is good reason to believe otherwise,
there is no problem. If there is any doubt that the copy is
legitimate, then there would also be doubt that the machine itself
is legitimate, and it should not be bought, IMO. Just wiping
Windows from the disc would not save someone buying suspicious
machines. Installing Debian is not a cover for purchasing
stolen or chopped machines.
