But if there were K<NN>[gkwx]dm links in the appropriate /etc/rc*.d invoke-rc.d would do nothing. My solution is to use sysv-rc-conf. It is a small package and provides a simple interface. Just type sysv-rc-conf as root, choose the default runlevel and scroll to the line with the service and remove the X. My 2¢ Marcus
