so can you confirm, before the reboot, that the new folder is actually
on the server? through the winxp machine, create a folder and then
physically confirm on the fileserver that the folder is created. I
suspect that you may be facing an issue where windows is not actually
creating the folder onthe server, or is caching the info and its not
getting synced to the server properly. IOW, windows acts like its
creating the folder, but is not actually doing it, thus it
"disappears" when the server reboots because the network connection is
lost and so windows dumps all the info it has on it.
