I would like to file a bug report about this, but I am unsure which 
package to file it against. Btw, when I logged in as another user, 
iceweasel did not work for that user. Maybe the problem is related to 
some user-spesific configuration issue.

I have compared the 'strace' output between two applications, one that 
works and one that does not. It seems that ssh (which does not work) 
quits immediately after it searches for the file 
'libnss_mdns4_minimal.so.2', but for 'ping' (which works) it goes on to 
open '/etc/ld.so.cache' after having searched for 
'libnss_mdns4_minimal.so.2'.

I have attached the strace output from ssh and ping for comparison.
