well, that depends on what you want to do...
while for some applications, the 64bit extentions can be a performance
boost, not all apps work in 64bit mode...
you can however install a 32bit chroot (there is a howto somewhere for
that)...
for a server _most likly_ everything should work in 64bit...

it will work on all p4 chips that have "em64t" as intel calls it.

and of course there is the advantage that with 64bit, one app can access
more then 4gb of ram...
