Actually it does. My machine runs sarge fine. It's some newer hardware that 
isn't supported until later kernels.

I have two nVidia Corporation CK8S Serial ATA Controller (v2.5) (rev a2) that 
work well with sarge.

Agreed, I am running etch now and it looks to be a great distro.
