linux-image-2.6.16 not able to purge?

Greetings all,

I found that the linux-image-2.6.16 package on etch cannot be purged:

dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.16-2-em64t-p4 (--purge):
subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 128
Errors were encountered while processing:
linux-image-2.6.16-2-em64t-p4
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install.  Trying to recover:

Is this a bug? I googled and found similar situations without solution.
