It's controversial, but every one of my own USB-related problems seems to be
that udev became the Debian standard, replacing hotplug, which worked. Udev
works most of the time. There's a big difference.
Right now, udev doesn't work at all. I think the Debian team wants me to
upgrade my kernel before USB can be used again.
