I do not think this is the cause. The "job" has exited, leaving orphanned dars 
and darmons still going as you said. There is interprocess communication 
going on here and also some hidden place where the dar sequence number is 
kept (and is not reset in this failure). So, the next time I try, the 
following dar slices have higher numbers.
