It does. You can get CVS versions of DRI 6.5 from the experimental distribution. The packages you need are libgl1-mesa-dri, libgl1-mesa-glx and libglu1-mesa.

That got DRI working for me on i810. I still can't run Google Earth, though, for some reason:
