If you are running the current Etch kernel (2.6.15) it should be fairly
easy to get the ipw2200 going; see the bottom third of this message:

(One small addition: It is probably better to put the firmware into
 /lib/firmware instead of /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware. Both should work at
 the moment, but hotplug is depreciated in Etch.)

If you get stuck, tell us what you tried and the exact text of the error
messages that you get.
