Re: Compiling packages for the standard distribution with -Os instead of -O2

Just out of curiosity, what is the Debian Way to change compiler settings like -Ox and -march? Can this be done with command line options when using higher level tools like 'apt-get -b source <pkg>' (with more options specified here, obviously)? Or does one download the source .deb, hack something in the build scripts, and then manually run 'dpkg-buildpackage'?
