Did you make a symbolic link to /usr/share/moodle under /var/www ?
I have to do that with all debian web-type programs I install.....
BBM:/var/www# ls -l moodle
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root www-data 18 Jul 12 2005 moodle -> /usr/share/moodle/
