That would depend on what you asked it to do. Most distros I have
experience with will let you install grub wherever you wish, or not at
all. Where it installs depends on which option you choose. If it
says /dev/hda that means the MBR of the hard drive. If it
says /dev/hdax, where x is a partition number, in your case 3. This
would install grub on that partition, not the MBR of the hard drive. I
do not install grub from new installs, just add a new entry
to /boot/grub/menu.lst on your main install, hda5. That way if the new
trial install doesn't work out, reformating doesn't wipe out the menu
for your bootloader. Hope that isn't too much rambling. :-)      DAN
