Latest KDE is 3.5 and it's not in testing. That would be something like 3.4...

Maybe a post of the output of dmesg will help us spot any problems. Do this from a root console:
dmesg > messages.txt (this will create a text file 'messages.txt' in the current directory)
Now copy-paste the contents into your next post

P.S. I had mpeg4 movies (sometimes called divx) running smoothly on a PII-333 MHz. Windoze can only dream of this.
