LI-2.6.15-1-686 Recommends Libc6-i686 Unmet Dependency

Just installed the subject linux-image and
linux-headers, apparently successfully, but libc6-i686
wont install with unmet dependencies. Console output
as follows:

ChatagnierL-Home:/var/log# aptitude install libc6-i686

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libc6-i686: PreDepends: libc6 (= 2.3.2.ds1-22) but
2.3.5-8 is installed.

ChatagnierL-Home:/home/lchata# aptitude update
doesn't pickup libc6_2.3.2.ds1-22_i386.deb and locate
doesn't return anything.
Don't know if to try removing libc6-2.3.5-8 and try
install -2.3.2.ds1-22 since it appears it's not in
apt-cache and update doesn't pick it up.
Haven't tried to reboot new kernel yet. Any
suggestions welcomed to fix this issue. Plz copy my
