I had a few problems with this at first. The nvsound module did work but the card was not recognised by Alsa or Kcontrol Center, and I had to reinstall each time I upgraded the kernel. I now have it working with alsa using the snd_intel8x0 module that comes with the kernel. MB is a ASUS A8N-SLI with realtek onboard sound.

I eventually found the answer on the Nvidia site.

I couldn't find anything useful there. I had the impression it was all
for gamers and high-end video cards.

The 'known problems' section was all I could find on here but www.nvnews.net has a couple of linux specific forums I have found useful also.
