probably -- though I've no idea how that got changed in the first
place...
How about leaving the X link in /etc/X11 as it is and making sure the
permissions of the actual X server /usr/X11R6/bin/Xorg are 755? :) 
(/usr/bin/X11 normally is another link to ../X11R6/bin, i.e. /usr/X11R6/bin/)
