I don't know what you mean there.
Here is what's in fstab.

This is how my /etc/modules reads:
ide-cd
ide-detect
ide-disk
psmouse
sbp2
sd_mod
sr_mod
No "ide=generic" there. I'll add it and see if it makes a difference.
BTW, THANK YOU! It's been almost 24 hours and I'd given up hope on
finding any help anytime soon.
