hostap and intersil prism

Hi guys,

I am trying to set up an Intersil Prism PCI card as a wireless accesspoint with the hostap driver. I have found several HOWTOs on the net, and they all follow about the same procedure (most of them Red Hat based though).

I'm running Sarge with kernel 2.6.8-2-k7, and the hostap packages supplied with Sarge: version 0.3.7-2

I have set up modules.conf as per instructions, and when I do modprobe hostap_pci, I get no errors, only the following in dmesg:

Sep 11 21:26:06 twoflower kernel: hostap_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
Sep 11 21:26:06 twoflower kernel: hostap_pci: 0.3.7 - 2005-02-12 (Jouni Malinen <jkmaline@cc.hut.fi>)

But, when I try to configure the interface, I get:

wlan0 No such device

Is there any fancy trick to this? I'll include some more info:

lspci -v
0000:00:07.0 Network controller: Intersil Corporation Intersil ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette] (rev 01)
       Subsystem: Unknown device 17cf:0020
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10
       Memory at dfffe000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
       Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version

Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks
Hans
