Actually if you have already used apt-get to download the package then
simply editing it in place:-

sudo nano /var/lib/dpkg/info/base-config.postinst

and getting rid of the offending /

and then rerunning apt-get -u upgrade

is quite sufficient.  There is no need to get the source.
