It's not a shell, but I've done it with TightVNC. My client was on an XP
system, behind a firewall, where he knew NOTHING of the firewall policies or
IP address. I'm on Linux, behind my own firewall. This is more or less OS
independent, as long as TightVNC works on the OSs you are using. Since I
could not get through his firewall, he ran TightVNC server, then added my IP
address as a client. My firewall was set to forward that port to my
workstation, I had TightVNC Client running AND listening on my workstation,
and as soon as he said he had entered my IP addy, I got a window in KDE of
his desktop and could do what I wanted.
So if other suggestions don't work, if he has X running and you do too, or
you're on Win32, you can use TightVNC.
