Hi Peter,
I ususally use 'script'. It allows you to capture a 'session' to a text
file. It is also useful to 'edit' the log output to what would seem to
be related to the problem. For XFree86, the /var/log/XFree86.0.log
ususally has lines with 'EE' that explain errors.
As for getting it to your other OS:
floppy
vfat partition on HD or USB disk
brun to cdrom
Email the file to an account that the other OS can read
